Kazakh horses drinking from a pool on the steppe

These Kazakh Steppe Ponies are drinking water from a pool and grazing on the steppe near Aksu-Ayuly, about 130 km south of Karaganda. It is May, so many of the mares have newly born foals. Most of the horses here are raised for meat and milk. Geldings are used for riding.
