Mallard drake in a garden pond, Cambridge

This Mallard (Anas platyrhynchos), along with his mate, decided to take up residence in my garden pond in Cambridge. It wasn't long before they had shredded all the pond vegetation. Finally, with the help of one of the neighbouring cats, I managed to evict them. I felt a bit bad about doing that, but my little garden really was not a good place for them to raise a family.
